Curricula workshop in Tlemcen, Algeria

As part of an ongoing engagement with the Institute of Water and Energy Sciences of the Pan African University, the Managing Director of AltGen, Sean Gibson, went to Tlemcen in Algeria to facilitate a workshop between representatives of industry and the Institute in mid May 2018. The mandate was to shape the curricula according to demand from industry, and to exit with a defined set of recommendations to the institute. Both components of the mandate were fulfilled, with a number of fresh suggestions being made on the existing curricula as well as on other aspects of the courses, including work experience requirements and teaching to a pan-African audience in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, social accountability and innovation.

The workshop also managed to get in some social time in Tlemcen, with visits to the famous 2,000-year-old Mechouar Palace and the Renaissance Tlemcen Hotel.

With thanks to the sponsors, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
