If you are familiar with AltGen, some of you may be familiar with some of our current projects [detailed below] and as such we thought it would be appropriate that since today is International Workers Day, the timing is good for us to announce that as of the 1st of May 2017, International Worker’s Day, AltGen hereby commits itself to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the principles of which can be found here – UN Global Compact
“Corporate sustainability starts of a company’s value system and a principle approach to doing business”.
This means that as AltGen, we hereby committ to upholding a global set of basic responsibilities to our planet and its people, and promise to conduct our business in an ethical manner free of corruption and with due regard to human, labour and environmental rights.
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact, we are consequently bound to adhere to the requirements of the Global Compact, more especially the commitment to submit to the United Nations an annual Communication on Progress (CoP) that describes practical actions that we have undertaken in each of the four areas and a measurement of the outcomes of such.
Current AltGen Headline Projects include:
- The independent verification of the Green Mini-Grids program in Kenya on behalf of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD)
- The search and selection of the team of turbine technicians on behalf of Vestas in Lake Turkhana in the Loiyangalani District, Marsabit County, of Northern Kenya
- The review of HIV/Aids related activities implemented as part of the Independent Power Producers socio-economic development investment in South Africa on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
