Description

A well-established investment firm which finances the full suite of renewable energy technologies is rapidly growing their project pipeline throughout Africa, bringing power to some of the most remote locations across the continent.

They are now looking for a highly organized and procedure driven Project Manager who is able to effectively assist their Senior Project Manager.

The role will be based in Uganda and will require that the Assistant Project Manager who takes on this opportunity be open to travelling throughout Africa extensively in order to roll out their projects. If you are a Project Manager with a passion for working remotely, have your Civil Engineering degree and have managed subcontractors on Hydro sites for 4+ years, we are in search of you! You will have no less than 3+ years’ experience working on remote green energy projects across the African continent in a similar role. You will know the ins and outs of project management, from how to run with projects simultaneously to how to effectively plan, ensure risk is mitigated, necessary requirements of HSE and land acquisition to interpreting designs. Quality will always be at the core of your responsibilities and ensuring that standards are met is just part of the game.

You will be working right in the action, assisting the Senior Project Manager to execute the projects and making sure the processes and procedures are followed. You will find yourself liaising with all relevant parties and stakeholders. Your goal will be to successfully take the projects through to construction and smoothly transition the handover. You may be required to assist with operational master plans, procedures and training should the opportunity arise.

Occasionally you will need to provide technical input and direction on all the engineering aspects as well as monitoring the projects and creating effective tools to do so. Managing people will be part of the job. You will need to assist in handling the contract admin, programmes, schedules and meetings. Making sure that the sites are ready for construction will be key, ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

An ability to communicate and make sure all parties are on the same page will help you to quickly move up the ranks. You will find yourself constantly liaising and negotiating with the various parties to make projects are commissioned.
