We have an exciting opportunity for an ESH&S Officer to support our client’s projects in Francophone countries within Africa! The team you will be joining has a remarkable renewable energy project portfolio. Due to your involvement with Francophone countries, it is essential that you are fluent in French – your application won’t be considered without it!

As the ESH&S Officer, your main priority will be to ensure the environmental, social, health, and safety performance of the company is up to standard. You will need to analyze this performance and implement improvements where needed to ensure environmental legislation and international standards are complied with. To be the person for this role, you will need a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering coupled with at least 4 years of proven experience carrying out International E&S Standards. Your uncontested knowledge of Cameroon’s Environmental, Social and Labour legislation is what will put your application ahead of the rest. Part of your responsibilities will include creating strategies to address E&S risks as well as their impacts, negotiating environmental service agreements, liaising with construction managers, operations teams and stakeholders regarding E&S matters and permit compliance, and overseeing and reporting on E&S performance. You are someone who’s interpersonal and communication skills are outstanding with the ability to work within a team as well as independently. You enjoy stepping out of your comfort zone and are flexible and won’t mind visiting project sites throughout Africa when needed. Your previous experience with enforcing occupational health and safety programs in the workplace with make this role an absolute breeze for you.

Education Requirements

Masters Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering

Experience Requirements

4+ years proven experience carrying out international E&S standards
Good knowledge and experience with global environmental standards and frameworks of international finance institutions
Previous experience with E&S and sustainability reporting
Thorough knowledge of Cameroon’s Environmental, Social and Labour legislation


You will be primarily responsible for supporting company projects within Francophone countries, as well as ensuring compliance of E&S policies and standards, liaising with construction managers and operations teams and stakeholders regarding E&S, negotiating environmental service agreements, budgets and cost control, and creating E&S policies and programs.


Fluency in English and French is non-negotiable – your application won’t be considered if you cannot speak both languages!!
