We are looking for a Project Engineer with exceptionally strong design skills, a professional who has 4+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV mini-grid project design as well as the technical aspects surrounding the commissioning process. We are looking for an Engineer who has a master’s degree in electrical engineering and is certified as a Project Manager. To deliver on our client’s mandate to expand their off-grid mini-utility project footprint across Africa, it is non-negotiable that the right technical and educational skills are brought on board.
Our client is a multinational mega powerhouse in the solar PV utility space, they are looking to expand their brand within the PV micro-grid space, projects will range in sizes up to and over 5MW. This role will see the ideal candidate reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Design and working closely with the Project Managers and Business Development Team. They will find themselves playing a pivotal role in not only the pre-feasibility phases of a project but will a role throughout the project’s full lifecycle – which means that this opportunity opens one up to holistic project environment exposure. The successful candidate will find themselves actively taking part in the technical aspects of new or potential projects from conducting yield studies, to site visit reports, project modelling, defining BOP scopes and costs as well as related technical schedules pertaining to lease agreements. They will be commercially savvy and results-driven, able to negotiate on contracts or procurement quotes as well as ensure that EPC’s are meeting outlined expectations. You will be responsible for ensuring that the installation team, as well as O&M team, receive solution-driven technical advice.
