Senior Flutter Developer

A fast-growing fintech company transforming digital payments across Southern Africa is looking for a Senior Flutter Developer to take ownership of its mobile and Point of Sale (POS) application stack. This is a hands-on senior role where you’ll lead feature development, drive technical direction for the Flutter codebase, and ensure seamless performance across payment and POS hardware.

Working at the intersection of mobile engineering and fintech, you’ll be responsible for building high-quality, production-ready applications while maintaining a modern, reliable codebase. You’ll transform Figma designs into polished user experiences, oversee dependency management and platform upgrades, and develop robust integrations with payment and POS devices. Success in this role requires a strong focus on technical excellence, product quality, and the ability to deliver reliable solutions that perform consistently in real-world environments..

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Development & Product Delivery

• Lead the development of new features from concept through to production release
• Transform Figma designs into pixel-perfect, production-ready mobile applications
• Deliver intuitive, high-quality user experiences across mobile and POS platforms
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Operations to deliver features on schedule

Flutter Architecture & Codebase Ownership

• Own the Flutter and Dart codebase, maintaining high standards of quality and performance
• Manage package updates, dependency upgrades, and framework migrations
• Ensure applications remain secure, stable, and compatible with supported platform versions
• Drive best practices for architecture, testing, and maintainability

POS & Payment Hardware Integration

• Develop and maintain integrations with Android-based POS devices, particularly Sunmi and Nexgo terminals
• Implement payment processing, printing, barcode and QR scanning, card reading, and peripheral integrations
• Troubleshoot hardware-specific issues and validate releases on physical devices
• Work alongside operational teams to ensure reliable deployments in production environments

Technical Leadership

• Mentor developers through code reviews and technical guidance
• Establish coding standards and development best practices
• Champion CI/CD processes, automated testing, and reliable release management
• Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and delivery tracking within Jira

Experience

• 5+ years of professional mobile application development experience
• 3+ years of commercial Flutter and Dart development
• Proven experience developing applications for Android-based POS or payment terminals such as Sunmi or Nexgo
• Strong experience integrating third-party SDKs for payments, printing, scanning, or other hardware peripherals
• Experience managing Flutter dependency upgrades, migrations, and large production codebases
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, state management, native platform integrations, and offline-first application design
• Experience working with Jira in Agile development environments
