A well-established investment firm which finances the full suite of renewable energy technologies is rapidly growing their project pipeline throughout Africa, bringing power to some of the most remote locations across the continent.

They are now looking for a highly skilled and organized Senior Project Manager who lives for the thrill of a challenge.

The role will be based in Uganda and will require that the Project Manager who takes on this opportunity be open to travelling throughout Africa extensively. If you are the Project Manager we are looking for, you will have your Civil Engineering Degree and will have between 7 to 10 years’ experience on site, specifically managing subcontractors on hydro sites. You will have no less than 4 years’ experience working on clean energy projects throughout Africa and know the ins and outs of project management, from simultaneously managing projects to the planning, risk mitigation, HSE, interpreting designs right through the quality requirements.

You will be working right in the action, executing the projects and making sure the process runs smoothly. From liaising with all relevant parties, taking the projects through to construction phases to the final handover (assisting with operational master plans, procedures and training).

You will act as an advisor, providing technical input and direction on all the engineering aspects as well as monitoring the projects and creating effective tools to do so. You will need to handle the contract admin, programmes, schedules and lead the meetings as well as make sure sites are ready for construction (all legal and regulatory requirements are met).

Your ability to effectively communicate will be one of your most impressive skills as you will need constantly liaise and negotiate with the various parties to make sure the projects comes to life.

Education Requirements

MUST have Civil (or Mechanical) Engineering degree

Experience Requirements

7 - 10 years’ experience working on HYDRO sites INCLUDING managing sub-contractors is non-negotiable
4 years' project experience  in hydro or other renewable energy  technologies throughout Africa is highly advantageous
Must have experience using AutoCAD

Skills

Excellent MS Office, scheduling and presentation skills
Must be exceptionally organized and able to think out the box as well as be proactive
Brilliant people management and communication skills are non-negotiable
Must be willing to travel extensively across Africa / Uganda
