AltGen has a rich history of offering recruitment, manpower and EOR services in the renewable energy industry in Africa. From consulting engagements on creating renewable energy training curricula for GIZ for the Pan-African University of Water and Energy Sciences in Algeria, to acting as the Supervisory Consultants on behalf of AFD for the Kenyan Green Mini-Grid program, our history is as varied and diverse as the countries in which we operate and the people we work with.

The growth and expansion of AltGen have been deliberate and measured, from an initial office of 3 staff to a network of offices and capabilities in our focal markets.

AltGen focusses on 3 primary value adds to the renewable energy and sustainability industries in Africa – Recruitment, Manpower Services and EOR, in Africa.

Sean Gibson
Sean started AltGen in 2012, after completing a master’s degree in Sustainable Development through Stellenbosch University. AltGen was a fortuitous confluence of opportunity – at the same time as completing his studies and already with 10 years of recruitment experience in the supply chain and tourism industries, the renewable energy procurement programme was just starting in South Africa, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Robert Veith
Rob is hands down the most connected Consultant in the renewable energy business in South Africa. Rob has a background in electrical engineering which he later overlaid with a B Comm in sales, and with experience in the sales of renewable energy systems, project development and in process mapping and management, he has the perfect background to understand clients needs, no matter how complicated.

Lané Murray
As a CIMA qualified Financial Manager, a citizen of Botswana, and a shareholder in AltGen Botswana, Lané has a well-rounded holistic perspective on the business. Lané is by choice a client-facing FM, preferring to be operationally involved, and she brings a positive and problem-solving approach to all of her engagements.

Naydene Varnicker
With an environmental degree and a passion for people and the planet, Naydene is the face of AltGen and EOR In Africa at global and pan-African conferences and events as she leads the development of new offices and geos for the AltGen team. Naydene is the functional manager of the Namibian, Botswana, Kenyan and Zambian incumbents in the EOR space.

Priscilla Gibson
Priscilla’s foray into renewables really took off with her engagement with the construction and OEM teams at Lake Turkana Wind Park, a 400-turbine 300 MW single phase project in the remote North-East of Kenya, which remains the largest wind farm in Africa. Having travelled extensively in Africa, Priscilla is now permanently located in the United Kingdom, where she specialises in retained and executive search.

Bridgette Kannemeyer
Bridgette has boot-strapped herself throughout her career, to the point where she is today as the leader of the AltGen Management Services product, with several hundred employees looking to her for leadership and guidance. She has a professional and ethical approach to all those with whom she engages.

Kerryn Calitz
Kerryn is responsible for the day-to-day efficient running of the AltGen office in Stellenbosch and ensuring that Clients and Candidates receive the best possible service. She is a committed and hard-working team player, from training to strategy, Kerryn is in charge of making sure that the team is working like a well-oiled machine.

Ivan Pienaar
Ivan specialises in the sourcing and recruitment of engineering and sales roles in the Commercial and Industrial and IPP space in South Africa, an area that he has focussed on from inception. And he embodies the best of all of the qualities that candidates or clients would like to see in their engagements, from empathy to true caring, he is a match-maker and problem-solver at heart.
